From Indore to the International Stage — and Back to India
Every journey of impact begins somewhere. For Marina Shaikh, it began in Indore and evolved through education, international policy, humanitarian engagement and grassroots social action.
Where It Began
Born in Indore, Marina's formative years helped shape the values that would eventually influence her approach to leadership and social responsibility.
Foundational Education
Marina studied at The Daly College, Indore.
National College
She subsequently moved to Mumbai and completed her Bachelor's degree from National College.
An International Turn
Marina's professional journey took an international turn when she began working in Brussels under former Member of the European Parliament Nirj Deva. Beginning as an intern, she progressed to the position of Special Assistant and Advisor.
International Policy Exposure
During her time at the European Parliament, Marina worked closely with the Alliance of Conservatives and Reformists in Europe. Her responsibilities provided exposure to international policy, political institutions and cross-border engagement. She represented ACRE at international conferences in Turkey, Armenia, Italy and the United States.
Humanitarian Engagement in Europe
Alongside her international policy experience, Marina supported humanitarian initiatives including the Praksis Organisation in Athens, contributing to programmes providing economic, social and medical assistance to vulnerable populations.
ACRE Director General for India
Marina later served as ACRE's Director General for India for two years. Her return marked an important transition — bringing international experience and humanitarian understanding into an Indian context.
The Rising World Foundation
Marina went on to establish The Rising World Foundation with a commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and creating sustainable social impact.
A Journey That Continues
Today, Marina's work brings together philanthropy, humanitarian action, partnerships and advocacy. From international institutions to communities on the ground, the geography may have changed — but the purpose has remained constant: to create meaningful change through compassion, collaboration and action.
